Dear friends in Christ,
Receive a warm greeting in the name of our Lord Jesus. I want to share with you what God is doing in Argentina, and what, by faith, we believe He will do in the years ahead. I write to you as part of Awana Latin America and as a passionate disciple-maker. I have witnessed firsthand how the Lord transforms lives when the Church disciples children and youth.
The challenge and the opportunity are clear. Argentina has more than 13 million children and adolescents; half live in poverty. Crisis, violence, drug trafficking, and family breakdown affect thousands of homes. In the midst of this, children and young people are crying out for hope and purpose—something only Christ can give. That is why our goal is not only to reach them, but to raise them up as disciples who make lifelong disciples.
Let me tell you about Nehuén, an 11-year-old boy in Buenos Aires. He came to an Awana club and, within minutes, experienced what he calls “the Father’s embrace.” From that moment, his shyness disappeared. He began sharing the Word and reciting Bible verses in public. He says, “What I love most about Jesus is that He gave His life for us.” Nehuén is just one among millions. Each child represents a redeemed future, a transformed family, and a stronger church.
The Lord is already making a way. In November 2024, we visited several churches: Luz en Victoria, Saenuri Korean Baptist, Cielos Abiertos in Gualeguaychú, and Nueva Vida en Cristo in La Matanza. At a Director Training in Buenos Aires, more than 50 leaders from 15 churches responded to the call to be equipped in discipleship. Pastor Hanu Kim shared, “This training encouraged us to take the next step in discipling children and youth, with Awana partnering with us on the journey.”
In 2025 we will strengthen a sustainable and multiplying network through four key actions:
- Build up a core team of 10 volunteers to share the vision and walk alongside churches.
- Launch 25 new churches in strategic locations with mentoring, resources, and ongoing support.
- Develop two strategic partnerships that will open doors, provide credibility, and supply resources.
- Raise the necessary funds to expand into the places with the greatest need.
Each of these steps means children and teens growing in God’s Word, families being supported in their homes, and leaders being strengthened week by week.
