Update from Peru:
God continues to perform wonders through His church in Peru, reaching children and teens with the Good News of salvation. In the midst of a national crisis marked by growing violence, contract killings, and extortion, God is using His people to share His Word with the next generation. It is a privilege to be His instruments in such a time as this.
The Impact of Awana’s NETWORKS in Peru
Churches across Peru are actively running Awana programs like “Descúbrelo,” Truth Seekers, and Youth Connection. In February, we held our annual “Descúbrelo” Celebration virtually with 58 leaders representing 20 churches. It was a joyful moment to reflect on another year of fruitful discipleship, witnessing firsthand how both leaders and children are growing in their faith through powerful testimonies of God’s ongoing work in churches across the country.
The Happy Hearts ministry also held their Annual Celebration in February. They use Truth Seekers in 20 children’s clubs throughout Peru. This year, 50 leaders from 15 clubs and three pastors participated in the event.
In March, the San Martin Regional Committee of the Christian and Missionary Alliance (C&MA) expressed a strong desire to implement Awana’s “Descúbrelo” program in churches across their jungle region. We responded by training 76 leaders from 12 churches over three days in the cities of Tarapoto, Tocache, and Juanjui. We praise God for the opportunity to equip these leaders to continue making disciples among the children in their communities.
