CURITIBA, BRASIL – From June 5–8, 71 leaders from 23 Brazilian states gathered in Curitiba for a pivotal event shaping the future of child and youth discipleship in Latin America. 11 pastors, 60 teachers, and representatives from 42 churches across at least 16 denominations came together with one shared purpose: to equip key leaders to disciple the next generation in Brazil.
Unity and Conviction
The strength of this gathering wasn’t just measured by the quality of training sessions or resources shared, but in the visible passion of those present. Every conversation, every prayer, and every moment of collective learning reflected a deep conviction: discipling children and youth isn’t optional; it’s essential for the transformation of families, churches, and entire nations.
Strategic Partnerships for a Shared Vision
This event was made possible by a strategic partnership between Awana Latin America and Iglesias Discipuladoras, represented in Brazil by Ilaene Shults, along with the long-standing relationship with OANSE Brazil. The goal of this collaboration is to strengthen a national network of child and youth discipleship that is both contextualized and multiplying.
Discovery Land Global also played a vital role, offering intensive training on the Descobertas curriculum, designed to build a strong, living faith in children ages 3 to 12. Their international team didn’t just bring tools; they brought inspiration. Their testimonies helped Brazilian leaders envision how to effectively implement the model in their own communities.
Discipleship NETWORKS with a Long-Term Vision
This forum was not an end in itself but part of a broader strategy to activate and expand discipleship NETWORKS across the country. With a concrete goal of reaching 40 new churches in 2026 and 500 churches over the next ten years, we laid out a roadmap for training and multiplication with the aim of discipling 2.000 children nationwide.
As Psalm 78:4 reminds us:
“We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation, the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.”
The Urgency of Investing in the Next Generation
Discipleship begins now, in every children’s classroom, every youth group, and every home where the Word of God is faithfully taught. This movement calls on everyone who shares the vision to grow, connect, and multiply because every seed planted in the heart of a child can produce eternal fruit.
The next generation in Brazil needs our prayers, our presence, and our commitment. The next generation is waiting for you.
